About the Air Show Acts

The 2016 Lake of the Ozarks Air Show is jam-packed with non-stop, exciting entertainment that the whole family will enjoy. Here are a few of the acts that will be featured in this year's show:

Neal Darnell - Flash Fire Truck

Reaching speeds of more than 350 mph, the Flash Fire Truck is the world's fasted jet-powered truck. Driven by Neal Darnell, you will be amazed at the amount of fire, smoke, heat, noise and speed! The Flash Fire Truck will be racing against a plane giving it a 150 mph head start and pass it like it's stopped.

Tora 101 Air Show

Originally used in the movie Tora! Tora! Tora!, the TORA 101 is a Japanese A6M Zero replica. It is realistic looking, has an authentic sounding engine with a three-bladed propeller, loud wing mounted machine guns and a smoke system.

Kenny Carroll - Aerobatic Planes

Josh Franklin Motorsports prepared a 1985 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that races in the factory stock class at the Lucas Oil Speedway. All frame, floorboards, suspension points are in the stock locations. The engine is Ozarks Speed and Marine prepared 428" small block. It has over 700 horsepower, three-speed manual transmission and weighs 3150 lbs with Kenny in it.

Brian Correll Airshows

The airshow airplane Brian Correll flies is a modified Pitts S2S. His red and blue Pitts Biplane has been strengthened and modified to make it capable of the extreme aerobatic routine that he puts it through. From squared off wing tips to enlarged control surfaces to "under the hood" modifications, this plane has everything it needs for a perfect performance.

B-25J Mitchell World War II Bomber

The North American B-25 Mitchel is a twin-engine bomber that became standard for the Allied Air Forces in WWII. It was one of the most versatile aircraft in the war and became the most heavily armed airplane in the world. It was used for both high and low-level bombing, strafing, photo reconnaissance, submarine patrol and even fighting.

KC Flight Formation Team

Kansas City's largest homegrown civilian formation team was founded in 2009 with just 4 members. It has since continued to grow and currently has 14 members. Based in Lee's Summit Airport, they have performed over Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs, Sporting KC, and at KC area high school football games.

Ping Pong Ball Drop

The Ping Pong Ball Drop is one of the most popular Lake of the Ozarks Air Show events. Hundreds of ping pong balls will be dropped out of an airplane and scatter the airfield. Kids will retrieve the ping pong balls and return them for prizes. A few specialty marked ping pongs balls are marked for large prizes like Big Surf Waterpark tickets.
