7 Tips for Home Sellers
The process of selling your home at the Lake of the Ozarks is a lot different from when you bought it. Buyers are not only looking for a great value, but they are also looking for a place to call home. Finding the right Lake of the Ozarks real estate agent to sell your home is often the first step, but there is a lot more to do in order to sell your home fast. Selling your home can often be a stressful situation, but it doesn’t have to be with these 7 tips for home sellers:
1. Price it Right the First Time. Your home gets the most views the first 2 weeks it’s on the market. Make sure you price it fairly the first time in order to get the most out of these views. You only get one chance to make a good first impression, do not waste that opportunity.
2. Let There Be Light. A bright, cheerful home will sell quickly. After location, lighting is the next most important factor to home buyers. Lose the drapes, clean the windows, change the lampshades, do whatever you need to do in order to bring in the most amount of light.
3. Lots of Storage. Storage is another important factor that buyers look at when selecting the right home for them. Make your closets look big by taking some clothes out. Do not leave it completely empty, though. Buyers will look around, so make sure all cabinets, closets and other storage areas are clean and organized.
4. Be Ready to Move. Once you get an offer on your home, the clock starts ticking on when you have to move. Many sellers underestimate the amount of time they have before they need to move. Know your market and prepare accordingly. Be prepared before you list your home; it will help when the time actually comes.
5. Hide the Pets. Not everybody is a fan of cats and dogs. When people are viewing your home, it may be a turn off to see a dirty dog bowl, or smell the cat’s litter box. This may give off the impression that your home is not clean. Make sure your pet’s items are picked up before your home’s open house.
6. Hide the Personal Items. The more personal items that are left in your home, the less likely the home buyers are able to see themselves living in your home. Personal items include family photos, memorabilia and keepsake items. Consider getting a storage unit to keep these items in while your home is on the market.
7. Keep Your Home Sparkling. Your home needs to be show ready at all times. You need to be able to show your home whenever the buyer wants. Make sure there are no dirty dishes in the sink, that the dishwasher is emptied, no dust bunnies floating around and that the bathroom is spotless. It may be inconvenient, but it will get your home sold fast.
