Leap Year - An Extra Day to Find That House!
There never seems to be enough time in a day to accomplish all of the tasks that you would like to get done. Well, this year we're all in luck, because the fact that it's a leap year means we get one whole extra day to work with. If you are looking to buy a house at the Lake of the Ozarks, you've got 24 bonus hours to house-hunt, go over contracts, or whatever other tasks that you have been trying to find the time to finish.
The first leap year happened around 46 B.C. because Julius Caesar ordered his astrologer to simplify their calendar. It had 355 days a year with an extra 22-day month added every 2 years. That entire system was fine-tuned by Pope Gregory XIII. He figured out all the probably-simple-but-sounds-complicated math and gave us the system that we use today.
The Chinese calendar runs a bit differently than ours. Similar to Caesar's calendar, every 3 years they add an entire leap month.
If you happen to be born on a leap day, birthdays are few and far between. You're not alone though, because there is a special club for these "leaplings" or "leapers" called The Honor Society of Leap Year Babies. There are over 10,000 members worldwide.
This Lake of the Ozarks real estate agent likes to look at leap day as the time to take on an extra project or activity. Use it to do something fun and out-of-the-ordinary for yourself. Another option is to take the practical route and clean up that to-do list.
This February 29, 2016, if you have been either thinking about or are in the process of looking for a new home, fill your extra day with a few tasks to make that happen. Search listings online, tour some open houses, gather your items to prepare for a mortgage approval, or make a wish list for your dream home.
If you are ready to sell a home at the Lake of the Ozarks, use leap day to update a house feature or room, search for your next piece of real estate, or finally get your current home listed for sale.
If you need help with any of those things, give me a call. I would love to use some of my extra time to make sure that all of your Lake of the Ozarks real estate needs are taken care of. Enjoy your extra day!

Leap Year Facts
Have you ever wondered why we add an extra day to the calendar? Apparently, it takes slightly longer than 365 days to make a full orbit around the sun. Actually, it takes closer to 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, & 45 seconds to make that trip. Adding a leap day nearly every 4 years lets our calendar compensate for the extra time. The first leap year happened around 46 B.C. because Julius Caesar ordered his astrologer to simplify their calendar.
